Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art created in the early 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba (O-Sensei). Drawing from classical jujutsu and sword traditions, it teaches control with restraint—meeting force without opposing it directly through entering, turning, balance-breaking, and precise body movement.
Sendokai practises Yoshinkan Aikido, a line known for clarity and strong fundamentals, established by Gozo Shioda, one of O-Sensei’s most respected students. Yoshinkan is taught through a structured method: posture, stance, footwork, and body mechanics first, then technique, then deeper timing and adaptability—building strong basics so practice becomes more efficient, subtle, and controlled over time.
Classes are progressive and safety-first. Sessions include a warm-up, fundamental movement patterns, and controlled partner practice, with students learning correct grips and distance, safe falling skills (ukemi), and calm composure under pressure. Beginners are welcome—no prior experience is required.
Aikido improves mobility, coordination, and calm focus under pressure. Many men value the combination of structured physical work, precise technique, and disciplined progression—building control rather than aggression.
Aikido develops strong posture, balance, and coordinated movement. Training supports confidence and self-control, teaching you to stay calm, move efficiently, and maintain clear personal boundaries through structured partner practice.
Children learn through clear structure and dojo etiquette. Training develops balance, coordination, and listening skills, building calm self-control and confidence step by step in a safe environment.
Each class follows a consistent format: warm-up, fundamental movement patterns, and controlled partner practice. Students learn correct distance, grips, and alignment, and develop safe ukemi (falling skills). Training is respectful and safety-first, with steady progression.
From tradition to modern practice, Aikido was founded in Japan in the early twentieth century by Morihei Ueshiba (O-Sensei). Drawing on classical jujutsu and sword principles, he developed a discipline based on movement, balance and control rather than brute strength. Aikido teaches entering, turning and blending — meeting force through correct positioning, timing and calm intent.
Sendokai practises Yoshinkan Aikido, established by Gozo Shioda. Yoshinkan is known for clarity and structure: posture, stance and footwork first; then technique; then adaptability.
We build strong fundamentals early so training becomes more efficient, more subtle and more controlled over time.
